The completed Del Pouch™ lamination consists of 48ga PET/ White PE Co-extrusion/ 35ga Foil/ Adhesive/ Co-Extruded Frangible Barrier Sealant Film. This structure offers the option of having the first layer of PET either reverse printed, or surface printed. This is done depending on customer needs. This lamination incorporates aluminum foil, a high barrier sealant film, and a buried layer of PET, to produce a structure that yields excellent oxygen and moisture barrier properties. In the design of Del Pouch™, considerations were also given to the laminations ability to hold aggressive products. The high barrier sealant and the buried layer of PET do not allow for products to attack the critical aluminum foil layer. This insures that the laminations foil barrier remain in tact through out the life of the product.

The use of frangible sealant technology is the backbone behind the Del Pouch™ product concept. The versatile sealant material allows Cardinal Health to seal three of the four seals at high temperatures. This produces what is known as a weld seal. The fourth seal is made at a much lower temperature. This allows for the product, when under compression, to fracture the weaker seal, and escape into the foam applicator pad. Thus dispensing the entire contents held inside of the Del Pouch™.
