| A quarterly report, the focus was principally short term, third
quarter 2002 versus the most recent period (second quarter 2002)
and versus the same period a year ago (third quarter 2001). In addition,
it was decided that the sense or pulse should be broad. As a result,
the survey was constructed to examine relative performance for net
sales, profitability, inventory levels, capital spending and capacity
utilization. Lastly, one question was included to examine expectations
for sales performance in the fourth quarter (versus third quarter)
of 2002. |
