quarter 2002 versus the most recent period (second quarter 2002)
and versus the same period a year ago (third quarter 2001). In
addition, it was decided that the sense or pulse should be broad.
As a result, the survey was constructed to examine relative performance

and capacity utilization. Lastly, one question was included to
examine expectations for sales performance in the fourth quarter
