The FPA Sustainable Packaging Task Group will oversee a two phased research project on Sustainable Packaging. The first phase will include an explanation of the current state of the sustainable packaging movement including when and how it will impact flexible packaging manufacturers. The research will include a survey of consumer product companies sustainability efforts, thoroughly examine the Wal-Mart Scorecards and provide guidance for FPA members on how to participate in the Wal-Mart Scorecard process. The results of the first phase will be presented to the FPA membership at the FPA Annual Meeting on February 28, 2007. The second phase of the project will include development of information that will provide data on the sustainability of flexible packaging including the gains that have been made over the last several years. The results of the second phase will be presented to the FPA membership during the FPA Fall Executive Conference in October 2007.
